So this weekend was rainy, miserable and cold. Did I mention foggy!! So, on saturday, after deciding that staying indoors was a good idea, the fact that our oil tank needs replacing, so no oil or heat, drove us out of our home and up to North Wales where we spent the evening with our mates. Jon played games and I bit the bullet and re visited cable knitting!!
I must say, i was really impressed with how simple cables end up being once you push through all the patterns not making sense!! After a while I didn't need to look at the pattern as it was easy to see what came next, but I really loved it!! So much so, when we got back from North Wales we put the fire on and I chose a cable pattern that I liked, measured it out and made myself at hat!! I would show you what it looks like on but I really dont like being in photos all that much!!
But I just love wearing it!!
But it wasn't all knitting, games and warm fires!! We ventures out of the house on Saturday to visit the Hay winter food festival, and since its only down the road I really fancied getting into the Christmas spirit! Good job it was down the road really, the rain came and froze our fingers, so we retreated back home to the fire for a nice bowl of hot soup and rolls!
But not before I had a chance to snap some of the gorgeous window displays in Hay. I really loved the knotted narrative in 'Flow', so reminded me o the knitted toys I had when I was a kid.
I just loved picking up and inspecting the beautiful glass ornaments on display too, and even though im resisting christmas ( always seems to early to have decorations up, is that just me?) i was really cheered up with all the christmasy effort, and hearing the male voice choir sing as we mooches around was lovely!!
Tell you something else that was lovely, visiting a quilting shop in Hereford that has come highly recommended to me by Penny over at Rats as big cats ( blog roll on the right). She tells me to go in and stroke the fabric............. I can see why...........
This is only a tiny bit of what was in there, Amy Butler fabrics and everything!! Only thing is, now that I know where it is............il have to go back!!!!
